If you are a new mom (or about to be) I’m guessing you are already feeling the gap when it comes to postpartum resources. There are endless pregnancy checkups and endless baby check ups, but what about you, who is checking up on YOU? Here in Alberta moms typically have one postpartum visit at 6 weeks to check the cervix. Otherwise, its a big fat ‘good luck!’ as you’re shoved out the door. Maybe you’ve thought of joining a mom’s group, but the ones you’ve found are either full or too expensive.
Coffee & Convos is a free & drop-in mom’s group that first launched in August of 2022. We have had hundreds of speakers, moms, and babies come through our door, and we have been blessed by each and every one. Here is some information on how you can get connected with our mom’s group:
WHO: This group is tailored to mamas with their babies under 18m, but it is truly open to everyone.
WHAT: It is a COMPLETELY FREE & DROP-IN (thats right, no registration) mom’s group with free coffee & guest speakers, no strings attached! Click here for the speaker line up.
WHERE: The Fourth is a maternity & local store on the second level of Southgate Centre in Edmonton.
WHY: Between the lovely store owner Iris and myself we have 5 little girls, and we both struggled deeply with postpartum mental health and isolation. We wanted to create an easily accessible group where moms can connect with other moms in similar stages, learn from guest speakers on topics related to motherhood, and just get out of the house!
WHEN: There are currently 2 times available. Tuesdays at 1pm and Wednesdays at 10am, depending on whichever works best for you and your littles nap schedule.
