Planning on booking a newborn photo session for your little one? Here are some of my most FAQ’s that parents ask while looking for an Edmonton Newborn Photoshoot.
Edmonton Newborn Photoshoot schedules tend to fill up in advance, so I definitely recommend reaching out to secure your spot when you reach your second trimester. However, last minute spots may be available depending on the time of year, so it’s never too late to reach out!
Over the years I have found that the best time for newborn photoshoots are between 4-14 days old (particularly for posed studio sessions), as this allows for them to be gently posed into squishy & sleepy poses. However, life happens! If for any reason (NICU stays, sickness, late bookings, etc) your session happens after 14 days, there are a wide variety of equally adorable poses I can tailor to older newborns who are more likely to be awake for a majority of the session.
Not to worry! I only accept a limited amount of due dates per month. This ensures flexibility in my schedule to accommodate your baby once they arrive, within the optimal 4-14 day window.
Depending on the package you choose, sessions range from 1–4 hours. Some babies are super sleepy, and we breeze through the poses. Others may need extra feeds, snuggles, and patience. I always follow your baby’s cues and take our time. (Late arrivals may have shortened sessions to stay within the scheduled timeframe.)
I will send you a booking proposal that contains 3 documents.
I have a studio full of props: blankets, buckets, baskets, wraps, outfits, hats, bonnets, headbands, and teddy bears. If you have any sentimental items you wish to bring, I encourage you to let me know in your pre-session questionnaire!
Depending on which package you purchase – yes. I have packages for newborn only, newborn & sibling, newborn & parents, newborn & immediate family, or newborn & extended family! See all the options here!
As someone with a lot of experience handling newborns (4 years in photography, 7 years in pediatrics, decades of nursery volunteering, and a mom of 2) it is very rare for me to be unable to fill a gallery. I centre my sessions around baby’s needs, so extra fussy littles will receive extra love! Along with warmth & white noise, I have a variety of soothing techniques so ensure your baby is comfortable during their session. If the session is truly a disaster and I am unable to capture an authentic gallery, we will discuss next steps at the end of your session.
Absolutely. I clean and sanitize the studio before and after every session. Creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment is one of my top priorities.
Once booked, you’ll receive a full preparation guide that walks you through everything you need to know including what to wear, what to bring, and how to get baby ready.
I will send you a proofing gallery within one week of your session. From there, you will choose your favourites and pay any outstanding balance. Once that is complete, I will deliver your password protected high-res digital gallery within 4 weeks (although it’s usually much sooner, 4 weeks is just a buffer in case of emergencies).
Of course. While photographers solely rely on sharing content, I do understand & respect the decision to not have your images online. I may ask if you are comfortable with me taking & posting macro images that do not contain any identifying information (toes, fingers, nose, etc).
Well, there you have it! If you have any more questions or would like to reach out to book, I would love to hear from you!
